Default Rentals

Anyone know where to look for private rentals other than on Trade-me?Does'nt seem to be very much available at the moment (not of what we want anyway).

It is about time we started seriously looking for somewhere to live- got 6 weeks left here and we will need to furnish the whole house when we find one so really only got about 4 weeks to get a house sorted.

If you don't want to go through the estate agents' websites, have you thought about the local papers? They usually advertise places for rent in the classifieds. I looked at some of the bigger online newspapers but either couldn't find the classified columns or it took me to Trademe.

Alternatively you could always put in an ad or put a card in local shops in the areas you'd be interested in renting. Are there advert boards in any of the supermarkets you could use or look on?

I'd go with the local papers. Private rentals are usually listed in the Saturday editions. Be prepared for a long, exhausting search though, especially if you set your sights on a particular neighbourhood or school zone. And brace yourself for some shocks! IMHO, a lot of landlords have some interesting ideas when they present their homes for rent......
