Default A bit.....er.....different

Something worries me about this place. Well, several somethings actually, like that open top-of-the-house bit. Who's going to be first over the edge after a skinful?

Delightfully Different .

And half of it looks like it's been patched together with cardboard and that white gluey stuff. Look at the price! And I was worried how much we dare ask for our place in the same area. There's a lot of land but it's not really usable land because it's fairly steep and covered in bush. Sheesh!

It'll be interesting to see how long it stays on the market.

I've said it umpteen times and this proves my point. Most of the housing stock in New Zealand needs knocking down. It looks like a particularly bad DIY-er has abandoned work half way through a very badly bodged renovation. Normally, I'd say that a mortgage company would never lend against a property in that state, but then again, this is New Zealand....

As a point of (little) interest, 'naked' plasterboard (the grey stuff on the upstairs walls in the photos) absorbs moisture and grease over time, especially when it is left in or above a cooking area for a few weeks. When that happens, it's damn near impossible to get the skim coat to stick.

What's that old adage? Something about buyer beware.......?

Its houses like that which made us decide to build our own house, with double glazing, insulation, tiled roof etc - pure luxury apparently, the builders couldn't understand why we would pay the extra to have 3x the normal amount of insulation!! That area above the kitchen looks seriously dangerous - but then health and safety issues are not looked at quite the same in NZ as they are in UK are they??

Throws me back to the time when my kids were small.
