Whats Taumarunui like?

OK might have to block access to Trade Me from the hubby - he was off work yesterday and found some properties that he liked in Taumarunui and I was wondering what the area was like - obviously we won't make any decisions until we get out to NZ but it would be nice to have a few areas to look at

Well, it's... er... remote. I've never been there so don't know what the place is like, but it's quite far out from anywhere!

that's what I thought he also likes the look of Invercargill & Dunedin - I don't understand where this need to go to the middle of nowhere has come from - he's lived in Hertfordshire all his life so it's not like he's sick of city life but he seems set on getting a far away as possible
