New Plymouth?

Hi all.

We can't wait to get to NZ but don't yet know where to go- want to avoid Auckland though- we aren't into busy.

New Plymouth has caught our eye and from what we can find out on the net we think it could be the right place for us.

Anyone live there or stayed there and got any advice on the area?
We have two young childeren- age 3 and 1.
