Mark, there is such an obvious air of 'everything's right with the world' in your posts just now. It's so uplifting. Just seeing your name makes me smile. Good karma. Long may it reign. hang on a minute I've just realised this smilie looks like it's squeezing somebody's boobies. I'll change it That's much better!

The squeezer must be a very short person then, or else the squeezee is very tall

Ditto the comment about macfod

Cool well, there is some stress

in buying and running a business and now today a house-got the keys yipeeeeeee
I nice reply from Business Migration about us moving into our house.

But, then trying to get good staff in the cafe!
And already having lost three- not litterally:rolleyes:
but not up to scratch...
And its a small world with our new neighbours being someone I speak to at our bank- everyone knows everyone in Dunedin..
But driving to work is so nice with great views and mostly nice customers heaping praise on us for what we offer in our cafe.
Already getting an A grade for cleanliness -a big plus in Dunedin.
Making a few pennies...
So soooooooooooon we hope to start relaxing though and getting back to the gym and enjoying our walks.
But, everyone is so nice and friendly as I said before.

So, if you dont mind coller climes then come on down.

the coffee is always on..
and thanks for the nicey comments.

not a mention of boobies either.
although 70% of the population appear to be females

Lost three staff? What? Where? Were they very small? Could they have gone down the back of the worktop? Under an up-turned teacup perhaps? (Sharp intake of breath) You haven't toasted them into a Panini have you?!

And do NZ women have boobies? I hear they have balls!

Hi Mark, hey great news.... you're in!! That's fabulous and you're already making me jealous, ha!
The weather down there sounds very similar to up here in Auckland, beautiful sunny autumnal days - shame it's raining right now though... and just before I do the market!!!
I bet your cafe is a nice touch in Dunedin, a bit different with it being vegetarian etc..
It's areal coffee culture here don't you think? I still prefer a cup of tea though but find most of my Kiwi friends relish the coffee and all it's varieties!!
Yes the walks, I love going to any beach around here and disappearing for a long walk... hardly anyone on the beaches as there are so many, such a difference to England, a bit like you said about the supermarkets being strangely quiet... I have not seen a busy beach in all the months we've been here! I think everyone prefers to stay on the roads instead, ha!
Life in Dunedin sounds good still, it's good to hear all about it, thanks!

Debra

If we make it to Dunedin on our job/fact finding mission, we shall have to dine at your cafe. I hope the employee difficulties clear up soon. It is difficult in a college town, when student-employees don't stick around or take the job seriously.

Default life is fun

aha, its not the students , as we only employ Kiwi's as a policy.
Although we took a cook on this week that was a Brit!
And oh my god -she couldnt cook to save her life so we had to say cheerios!

I think long term we;l be ok as its the staff from previous owners not wanting change in how they do things.
But, there are lots of kids about that want work.

And maybe we have been working too hard..dumdee dum
Well, you do when you start up your own businesss and want to do well.
Its a lot busier than expected with new clients and ones that have kept away coming back.
The good news is now this weekend we have our own little place - HOME.

Nothing but good so far about Dunedin.

Apart from my bin men letting me down..ho ho ..well life is tough!
I told my wife , I even have a young girl coming in each day and appears to see me as someone special ...ha ha
Its nice to be appreciated as a hunk still....
Its a man thing. but in a city with mostly females obviously older guys are in short supply.
Anytime anyone come in and see us..we;l but the coffee's....
Well, I;l make them

Great that you're enjoying yourself, in amongst all the staff issues!

Keep on trucking Mark. You're doing fine. The early days are the hardest but it'll pay off in the end.
