Has anyone heard of haggling over rental fees. It's not the done thing in the UK but have heard lots about NZers enjoying a bit of a haggle.

Just wondered what to set my sights on when searching for rentals. Also are a lot of houses advertised privately or is what's on the net, pretty much all that's available?

Local papers have a good run of rentals. These get an airing on the net through propertystuff - think it depends on the paper maybe.

Cool, will check out property stuff.

Wondered if anyone moving into rentals had just paid the advertised price or whether they've bartered a little? Hmmm

We tried to haggle - but she wouldn't have it. Depends on the length of term and competition about ... there isn't much around here to chose from.

Rentals are usually in high demand, so you'd be lucky to find someone who will haggle down on price.

The best haggling to be done is in electrical stores etc. I dont think we've ever paid full price for anything from these!
