that monster link is to the wises maps website.
I see that it says 41Km and I've had a quick look and I can't see that it gives an actual time.

It's quite a good site so I;m sure the driving time is there somewhere..

Howick should be fine, don't rule out areas like Botany Downs, and even up towards Pine Harbour.

Also, any suburbs like Remuera are fairly nice (but more expensive), and you can get to the airport in about 45 minutes during rush hour.

A nice 3-4 bedroom family house would be around $400-450,000 in these areas, maybe 10-15% less in Botany.

Oh, and bear in mind interest rates have just gone up, and are expected to keep going up over the coming months!
