Anyone live/been to these areas. I will be over there in the next week or two checking the area out, any info greatly appreciated..........

Is there anything specific you are needing to know?

They are all pretty quiet areas and if I'm not mistaken, pretty much a wine producing area.

More havoc on Hawke's Bay roads

The horror year for crashes on Hawke's Bay roads continues with a collision near Napier leaving a man in a critical condition.

A woman, 60, is also in Hawke's Bay Hospital, in a serious condition, after yesterday's head-on crash between her car and a light truck. The truck driver, a Hastings man, 37, was thrown out of his vehicle in the impact, which happened about 8.50am on a 100km/h stretch of Pakowhai Rd.

Senior Sergeant Tony Dewhirst, of Napier, said it appeared the truck had crossed the centre line. Its driver had not been wearing a seatbelt. Driving conditions would have been good at the time of the crash, he said.

Sergeant Bruce Dean, of the Napier strategic traffic unit, said there had been "a hell of a lot" more crashes in the Napier police area this year.

"So far this year we have recorded 10 fatalities, 108 injury crashes and 472 non-injury crashes, a total of 588 crashes. But those figures are not up to date ? there are another two or three fatalities and the total of crashes would be over 600," he said.

"Last year we had nine fatalities for the whole of the year, with 129 injury crashes, 584 non-injury crashes and 722 total." Mr Dean said he had no explanation for the rise in serious accidents. "A lot of the crashes have been caused by loss of control of vehicles, and there have been a lot of nose-to-tail collisions. It's taking its toll on the frontline staff ? police, fire and ambulance ? who have to attend the crashes," Mr Dean said.

Hi,
Well thats a coincidence, I'm going out to Hawkes Bay/Napier on 4th Nov to have a look around, we like the look of the area but don't know if its going to be ok for our two teenage kids. Also it will depend on where I get offered work. We are also thinking about Northland, anyone been there?
