Default Whakatane (pron.)??????

Yeah, we're having fun with it all!

Especially when other things come into play.

When I go in to the station in Auckland, the trains to Waitakere, are pronounced Why-Tak-Ety.

Its going to be a long learning curve!!

Oh and watch the accent. Especially with decks being pronounced with an "i".

I'm hoping to get into sailing when I arrive.

I hope any boat I buy doesn't need the deck treating..

I should imagine the biggest problem would be keeping a straight face. It doesn’t just apply to sailors either, as many people will fancy a lovely evening outside in the fresh air, sitting on their d**ks or even getting a good suntan on their d**ks during the daytime .

And why not! Just make sure it's had a good coat of varnish or creosote on first. Then it'll look nice and smart for when the neighbours come round.
