Have to say my preference would be Auckland over Christchurch. If you are living in a big city now then at least for transition purposes - Auckland would get you back into the smaller environment of NZ. Once you've settled - then a move to somewhere else would be ideal.

You have British Pounds to exchange? So cost of living would be comparable . Christchurch is cheaper - but it is insular, with people wearing their collar up and hanging out with their school mates. There are two types of people - passengers and pilots and Christchurch is said to be full of passengers. It was voted one of the most un-innovative cities in NZ. Auckland and Dunedin were voted the most innovative - so maybe look at Dunedin if you to move to the South Island - Dunedin has a great university too.

Cheers,

Donna :icon_razz:

Thanks Donna. Christchurch sounds a bit like where we live now. :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif Still, we're going to have a look cause so many people seem to love it. Love the idea of the south but not sure about the weather! We've some friends who have been in Dunedin about 5 months and are coming home!!!!
We're going to try and visit as much of NZ as we can without getting too knackered on the way and not enjoying the experience.
Thanks for your advice.
Ellie
