Hiya guys .. sorry about leaving you all in suspense.

We are fine .. we collected Willow from the airport yesterday - was a bit of a faff to-ing and fro-ing to MAF, custgoms and then cargo, but she's here all fit and well. Only slight problem is that I don't think she wee'd the whole time she was on the plane, and now keeps going!!

The rest of the day was spent quietly as wanted to keep her calm and get things back to normal.

Did our first food shop at the supermarket - took ages as wasn't sure what to buy. First impressions are that meat is very expensive .. but the rest of the stuff seems quite comparative to UK prices (but that's working on a uk wage).

Went to Auckland the day before and had a mooch, some lunch and then dragged poor Jon up the sky tower ... kids loved it, but Jon isn't too keen on heights. Read our blog for the drama afterwards regarding car lights, and breakdown services

Today we are going to have a wee drive - or rather, I am, as I have to navigate my way to Auckland airport alone on Monday morning as I'm flying to Christchurch for an interview.

Rain has been horrendous ... but in between it has been bright sunshine, and we have seen some of the most magnificent rainbows.

Best go and get ready to go out ....

Nice one Lou and good to hear you're all safe and well

Poppy always comments that this must be the best place in the world for rainbows - we see at least one most days and they are stunning

Glad to hear that Willow arrived none the worse. It's amazing eh? They just get out the crate, tail a wagging and run to you like you've just come back from the supermarket or something - no hint of an inkling they've just travelled 36 hrs en route to the opposite hemisphere

Take care guys and good luck for Monday Lou. The airport drive isn't a bad one and one thing I've noticed is that road signs are much clearer here. I think they're easier to follow

You all seem to have enjoyed your first days, which is great news. First impressions and all that. The weather hasn't been too kind to you and, what with sleep deprivation and jet lag, you haven't had the best start, so imagine how much better it will be when things settle down .

Good luck with the interview, Lou. You're in the country now so, hopefully, employers will take you more seriously.
