Arrow We Have Arrived

Well we are here two younger children 15 and 10 years and of course me
Reunited with Hubby and Daddy after six long weeks
Still emotionally drained after leaving my two older boys, family and friends
The children have settle in well and going to visit schools tomorrow, then the younger one will start Wednesday and the older start college Thursday, I have to say they are a little nervous but want to get on with their new life and meet some friends
I am hoping to start job searching soon as they start school as I need to meet people and after not working for the last six weeks in the UK the brain cells are ceasing
The one major move we have made is we are moving from Waikanae to Paraparaumu in three weeks, to make commuting easier and suit our family needs
So far I like New Zealand, can’t wait for our Wellington group meet!!!!!

Great to hear you made it in one peace.
Welcome to New Zealand and welcome to Wellington! Bet it's great to all be together again.

Glad your kids are settling in and keen to get to school etc.
What work do you do?

We move into our new house in Camborne (Porirua) in the next couple of weeks. Will have to meet up for coffee once we are sorted out (providing you don't mind my 2kids hanging around- they're only 4 and 2- roll on august when the eldest can start school- again)
ANyway- will let you get your bearings and catch up with you soon.

Beth

Hey Debs

So glad you managed to pop in and let us know you'd arrived! I can sympathise with you about leaving older kids behind, I left my 3 lads behind and it wasn't (and still isn't) easy

In any case, we wish you all the best for your new life in NZ, glad to hear you like what you see so far!

Stick around and let us know how you are settling in

How do you cope with leaving them behind? We will be leaving our 20 year old son in the UK.

My kids are 17, 15 & 12 and are living with their dad and stepmum. They are very unhappy there but they won't come and live here, so it is a constant mind battle for me whether to stay here or go back to the UK. In public, I cope very well and we do all the staying in touch by phone & MSN stuff, but in truth my heart is breaking. In fairness, had they been older and a little more independant, and were in a good family situation, I would have been more comfortable about leaving them. My situation is just a little different because they are a) still quite young and b) unhappy at home, so it makes it harder.

Anyway, I've waffled on too long and hijacked sparrows' thread - sorry!

Welcome Debs, feet on hallowed soil at last eh? Glad to hear that your first impressions are positive and like Taf says the key with the kids is to get them in to school early. The quicker they make new friends the easier the transition will be for them and they WILL make new friends easily. The kiwi kids are certainly not backwards at coming forwards and they're very friendly

Good luck with the impending move
