Default Cosmetics in NZ

Not a question on major importance but usful to know.

What are the main brands of cosmetics/toiletries i.e make-up, moisturisers, shampoos etc.

Alsoan important one- what brands of napies are available and what is the best- hoping to be poty training when we are settled but until then they are an essential .

Can't help you with the nappies Beth, you know my three are well past that stage although Gaz still sometimes acts like he could do with some - men eh!

As for make-up, I don't buy a lot of it, not much point wearing it in my job but you can get all the same makes you get in the UK and it's about the same price. Eg, I bought a Maybelline mascara here last week, the same one as I used to get in the UK, it was $24, UK about ?9.

When I was picking up my mascara, there was a woman looking at some on the next display that was a cheaper make, she was with her husband who was in his work gear i.e. shorts, vest and Blundstone boots. He asked how much it was, when she replied $9 he said, 'Christ Shaz, that's a six pack! Do you really need it?' I felt like asking him if he really needed that 24 pack of Waikato Draught he had in the trolley and adding that her mascara would last her a lot longer and leave her feeling a lot better about herself than his hangover would him.

Typical Kiwi or typical bloke? I think I know the answer to that one

You sure that wasn't Neil who sneeked over there? He's quite partial to his beer although he doesn't deny me my little luxuries- couldn't live without my mascara- never leave the house without it on- not too fussed about the rest of it day to day- do tend to do a bit more at weekends.

Good to know I can get pretty much the same as here though.

You had me worried then Taffy. Seeing the title of the thread and then your name under it, I wondered how come you suddenly knew all about cosmetics in NZ. Needless to say I was relieved to see that you were just adding one of your usual witty repartees.

Trust you Taffy to draw attention to my secrets (yes my backside isn't really as big as it looks- it's my nappy that does it)

Nappies ...

You can get Huggies here at most of the grocery stores and The Warehouse. Pam's also makes an 'Ultra' line of nappies, which is what we use. We pay about $10 for 18 large ones. The Huggies are around $14, IIRC.

The 'pull up' variety are a little more expensive. I think $10 gets you 12 or 14 of the large size Pam's.

Other than that I think the other two choices are Giggles (not sure who makes them) and generic ones. We tried the Giggles but they were terrible--lots of leaks and lots of diaper rash. Haven't tried the generic for obvious reasons.

You might be able to find Pampers here (I think I saw them once).

Would that have been a rhetorical trick question?

I mean he's doing NZ a favour by riding it of that awful piss. The Waikato would at least been filtered first before being returned to the environment.

No dumb animals being harmed in the process.

Except of course your typical bloke.

?WTF

Too much filtering. Time to go.
