Default Goth culture in NZ?

Just wondering how much 'Goth' culture there is in NZ- in particular Wellington.

OH is quite into the style- wondering about clothes shopping etc and then also he has a dream of one day owning a 'Goth' Nightclub/bar- slight difference to IT but there we go.

I don't recall seeing any Goth-like folks when we were there in 2004, but don't think it would be out of line in Welly. Lots of stylish young people. Where's John Carman with local updates when you need them??

Seems like there's an element down in Dunedin . If it's in evidence down there, there's every chance that it's alive and kicking in Wellie. There's a gothic/industrial nightclub in Wellie although I don't know if that's the same thing.

There are all sorts here. It is much like a smaller version of Brighton. Cuba Street is the place you want to look, you won't miss it.

Just hang around Cuba Street/Manners Mall and all the young goths are there although I'm sure here they're called EMOs!

As you mke your way up Cuba Street there are some amazing 'unique' clothe shops that you would love....not sure about the night life for that scene.

When are you out as in the next month or so there's a big Rock festival here with Kiss and the likes.....

Can't say I've seen many goths around.

EMO's are slightly different, they are more grungy style who's whole existence is based around being moody and emotional! It follows a certain style of rock music I think.

Neil might also find that those trends stop at the teenage years, so he could be a little old to go 'hang' with them

According to the law of the teenage daughter living in our house, Goths aren't the same here. Lauren says they are Emos here but they're not the same as the Emos in the UK or the Goths in the UK. Work that one out.

I don't think he intends to be doing that. i think he is more concerned about getting the type of clothes he likes. It is the style and music he is into rather than the whole culture- although he can do a pretty good job at being moody sometimes

He likes the black and the skulls etc and the pants with zips and buckles and laces etc and of course his beloved New Rock boots. If I can sneak a couple of pictures of him over the weekend i'll let you know what I mean.
