Default School Uniforms

Just wondered if the primary schools in New Zealand wear uniforms and if it would be worth bringing my daughters things over with us?

Some do, some don't, Beth. I'd say it might be worth packing your daughter's stuff, just in case - you'd be mad if you got here and found out her school uniform is exactly the same colour as what you'd just left behind! If not, you can just use the clothes for playtime, crafts, etc

Apart from going to work, doing the ironing, going in the shower, hoovering, making the beds and putting the washing on the line in the 30 degree heat?....... nope, nothing better to do

Actually, I had a funny feeling you were going to come on and ask about school uniforms so I just sat here and waited till you posted the question

Poppys school doesn't have a uniform. It seems to be that most primarys don't and the secondarys and intermediates do.

You forgot the most important part of your daily routine...... taking your turn at Scrabulous. That can take quite a bit of time up.

This may not be relevant because it was a long time ago but when I was at school the primary schools didn't have uniforms and the intermediate and secondary schools did. That was in the Bream Bay area a bit north of Auckland. But when I got to secondary school the uniform was seriously minging it was brown and yellow and hadn't been changed since the '60s.

Think maybe I will donate them to school then- she can go in non-uniform for her last day i'm sure they won't mind if they are getting a load of spare uniforms

Most of our local primary schools (Chch) seem to have a uniform. Well, they have a sweatshirt and a dominant colour for things like shorts, shirts, trousers and skirts.

kids wear navy blue polo shirts and red sweatshirts with the school logo on. There is a general rule about blue shorts or track pants, but no-one seems bothered if the kids wear a different colour. I might be wrong, but I don't think a child would be sent home for wearing 'unauthorised' attire.
