I can't find a link on their website, but there has been an avalanche of letters in The Press this week about motorists and cyclists in the Port Hills. It all started on Monday when a woman wrote in complaining that cyclists should be banned from the Summit Road because she had been forced to overtake someone on a bike when a large SUV was coming the other way ! Doh! You can imagine the response from the biking community......

NZ is fantastic for cycling because there isn't the volume of traffic you get in Europe and the States. However, in my experience (over 4000km on my bike since June 2007) a lot of drivers in NZ have no idea how to drive safely, especially on narrower roads or up and down hills. Please note that I refer to 'drivers in NZ' not Kiwi drivers .

Absolutely agree ... there are too many foreigners here in New Zealand - new immigrants as well as tourists.
