Synchronized bridge-ramming and drowning - now that should be an Olympic event if ever there was one Sounds like heaps of fun....... well, for the spectators anyway!

The Coast to Coast in February. Two day individual event. I'm going to win the prize for the biggest support crew! See Speights Coast to Coast Multisport Race South Island NZ for the real deal. Apparently, I'll get pies AND beer when I finish.

I'm not bridge ramming any more because I've got a new sparkly blue kayak that's too pretty to use on real rivers......... Besides, there has been so much rain on the West Coast that the Mighty Waimakariri is in flood, so it's too dangerous to paddle. Even KiwiHopeful wouldn't want to swim in it at the moment

They talk about snouts, tongues and lung material, but I was sure I'd also read that.....er.....how can I put this genteely...... bums......were also included. Can't find it now, but worth reading these posts whenever the urge to have a sneaky pie or sausage comes up.

Why are all the best-tasting things so unhealthy?

All the better to practice one's drowning, don't you think?

Actually, I drove across it on Sunday night and thought of you. It looks like a real river now, doesn't it? Have you been splashing about on the brown Avon? Certainly hasn't been good weather for bike training or running ...

This is not a good thread to be reading as I hungrily await suppertime. Now I want fish & chips, a Polish dog with sauerkraut and a piece of frybread with honey & butter (probably similar to funnel cakes: fried doughy heart-stopping goodness). I'll just gnaw on my mouse instead.

...Oh, and corn dogs? UGH!

Default Fish & chips twice!!

When we arrived we went into our local "chippie" and asked for 2 fish and chips ......we got 2 fish and one portion of chips. We have found we have to say 2 pieces of fish and 2 seperate portions of chips. Is it the way we speak? Oh and we have great news.......Whakatane has just got it's first Kebab house (to my husbands delight) but they don't know what a shish kebab is!! Whakatane is really lovely, it's not banjo country....honest!!

We got fish and chips from a shop not far from here ... Let me describe it, from the bottom up:

1. Chips
2. 'Salad'--mostly just lettuce and a slice of tomato
3. Fish
4. An egg

Was the egg pickled, hard boiled, raw or fried?
