Oh woe is me.......

Took the theory test today. Got all 35 questions right for my car licence. Unfortunately, I did my bike theory paper as well. Only managed to get 32 and you need 33. Took it a second time and bombed out with 31!

The daft thing is, I can't get my car licence until I pass the bike theory because I did both together!?! Should have done car today and bike tomorrow. The worst part is that the clock is ticking and I've got less than a week to pass it before my 12 months run out.

Mrs K is running a sweepstake on how many goes I'll need.

Oh woe is me..........

Koko, what a fine mess you've got yourself in without really trying. What a daft way of doing things. Wonder why they lump them together as they're 2 separate issues, whether you sat both tests together or not. Do hope you can manage to scrape through in time.

Fingers are crossed.

Thanks everyone. I managed to regain my composure this morning and breezed through with 34 out of 35. Phew!

I asked about the joint test thing. The rules say that if you take a car and bike test together, you have to pass BOTH parts before they can issue your licence. I guess the smart thing would be to take one, get your licence, then go back to do the other....

I do take issue with the question I got wrong though. It said As a motorcyclist, what should you do to make yourself more visible to other road users?. The options were:

A. Ride with your headlamp on.
B. Wear a helmet and brightly coloured clothing.
C. Ride in the centre of the road.
D. Stand on your footpegs.

I chose A because I always ride with my lights on (I used to own a Volvo!).
I didn't choose B because you wear a helmet to protect your head in a crash, not because it helps other drivers see you.

Turns out I was wrong. The correct answer was B. Strongly worded letter in post to LTNZ today!

I'm with you on this one - not that I'm a motorcyclist!

Well done, again

Given my recent fun with the driving test, I set up an account with NZ Road Test Online last week. For $20, I got access to 25 general theory papers and 5 motorcyle specialist papers.

I used all the motorbike questions and Mrs K went through half a dozen general papers before breezing through her test this morning - huh .

Anyway, I've got another 20 general papers if anyone wants them.

I was going to say 'First come, first served' but I like the idea of a little competition. Simply complete the following sentence in 20 words or less if you want to win!

I deserve the free road code questions because.........

Closing date is 9.00pm (NZ time) on Thursday 1st November. Questions can be accessed online until early December I think. (42 days from last Thursday if you want to work it out).
