Bus and train fares soar to offset costs
Monday January 15, 2007

Auckland commuters will pay more today when bus and train fares increase. Bus fares go up by almost 8 per cent and train fares rise by an average of 15 per cent.

Auckland Regional Council transport spokesman Joel Cayford said fare increases were necessary as the cost of running public transport increased.

The answer was either user pays or a rates rise.

Ah well, still cheaper than Nottingham. This extra cash better sort the transport system out!
