Attention crafters! - Too late for this year, but maybe one to put in your diaries for next year?

Kiwi crafts a drawcard in Pirongia
25 September 2006

Thousands of people converged on Pirongia to check out the homegrown products ? from candy floss to copper ? at the annual Pirongia Craft Fair on Saturday.

The event, believed to be the largest fair of New Zealand-made crafts in the North Island, attracted more than 20,000, organiser Gay Hutton said.

"It was amazing. Everything is made in New Zealand; we try to keep imported goods out. It was just a fantastic turnout with busloads from Tauranga and Rotorua arriving."

The fair, in its 25th year, had 215 stalls including gypsy trinkets, pottery and a working blacksmith.
