    Arrow Repeat medical from INZ

    Hello Members & Mother Bear

    my life is full of surprises and here comes the another one for me;

I got my medical done and submitted with ITA
in Jan 2009 everything was normal except for
    Alt : was 87 ( normal:0-45)
    AST: 46 Normal (0-45)

Today i received the letter fro INZ stating that:
the assessor has specifiaclly requested the following tests:
    1. Repeat lever function Test
    2. Hepatits C serology

    What should I do now?

Shud I go o the Gp?
or I get the test done directly from the med lab?

What if the ALt & ASt are still on higher side?

Or shud I get some extra test done,as the wait itself for PR is killing me more than my fatty lever

Please help me members, urgently need your kind advice

    Thanks in advance

FASTIDEA1 ( no idea what will happen now)

    Hi

We have just gone through a load of hassle with medicals.
Myhusband had a couple of high blood results and had to see a liver and blood specialist in the end

I would go to the GP with whom you did your medical and they can refer you to the specialist of for the extra bloods you need doing.

My husband had repeat bloods whic were still high hence why he then had to be refferred to the specialists. They both gave him the all clear- immigration will want diagnosis and prognosis etc from the specialist before clearing you on your medical.

Good luck- it has taken us about 10months toget through the PR due to the medical stuff.

    Hello Ebianca
    Thanks for the reply.

I owe the current situation to all this Packed and processed food being sold in the supermarket. So much of chemicals and preservatives in these stuff.
Unfortunately we had to include this stuff in our daily diet.

However the good thing about Immigration medical done In jan 2009,After the test results I avoided all this processed and packed food from supermarket and got into fresh veggies , drinking lot of water and regular exercise.

Will get the Lever function test again and see how my body has responded to the change in lifestyle.

But honestly all of us should try to avoid these processed food stuff.

I would agree with that, but can't see it happening. In the last year, after a particularly difficult operation, I have become very aware of what I'm putting into my mouth. So much fat in most of what we eat . Why does everything that tastes so good have to be so bad for us? I don't think half of us realise the harm we are doing to our bodies. Food manufacturers should be taken to task about it and fined for malpractice.

sorry to hear about the medical operation on you, Mother Bear.

Yes! I feel really sad to see all these garbage being sold at the supermarkets with flashy adverts and " buy me' techniques.

No Govt. in any country seems to be doing anything to stop these food companies.

No wonder how many people today are being diagnosed with lever cancer and other virals...Best is buying food in the traditional style like farmer markets and vegie shops

While I have to agree there are too many over-processed and chemically altered foods out there, we are responsible for what we put in our mouths. That being said, the food may not have anything to do with liver problems or hepatitis C. (Hep C is spread by infected blood, and you may have no idea when, where or how you got it, but it still affects the liver the same way.)

The cheapest and easiest thing to do first might be to see your GP and talk to him/her and get the tests ordered. If your GP thinks you need to see a specialist, you can go from there. There is also a possibility (although slim) that the test results could have been wrong.
Arrived in Auckland on August 6, 2008.Now live in Kawakawa with my kiwi partner.
I just started working at Bay of Islands Hospital at the beginning of December 2009.
Work permit renewed and good until June 2010
EOI submitted and selected, case manager assigned and ITA received. PR application submitted 28/08/09
approved in principle 26/01/10, PR granted and received 19/03/10

    Default blessings in Disguise

    Hello Friends

Thanks a lot for your replies.

I got my blood test done again last week and the results are :

    Alt : 50 ( normal:0-45)
    AST: 27 Normal (0-45)
    Hep. C: Negative

Though Alt is still 10 percent higher, my friend said that its quite normal.

As I said earlier, I checked on my diet and avoided super market stuff and drank more water than usual and the results are shown in blood test.

As a matter of fact Immigration Medical proved to me blessings In Disguise

Great news, Fastidea! Congratulations . That just goes to show that what we are putting into ourselves doesn't always do us any good. It's a pity that we can't just stick to eating natural foods, but they make these 'modern' foods so darned tasty and easy to eat we have to try hard to resist them.
