    Default Expensive an time consuming

We are in the process of waiting to be assigned a case officer still 3 months to wait. We are wondering is it really worth all the expense etc
    Medicals 710
    Visa apps 685
    EOI 135
Time spent on forms etc 500 at least of out time
    etc etc

We really want to go to NZ, but the time you have to wait to get a decision is crazy. We have had our lives on hold for nearly a year now, and the immigration people say do not come out and look for a job.

I think the whole system so bad, and does not encourage people to go.
I am justing letting off steam but why is it so slow and painful if you have the skills they want??

I guess it will filter out the ones who dont 'really' want it :)

They have alot of people apply and not a huge amount of officers, that s the main reason for it taking so long!

It s all worth it though :)))

If I knew the answer to this.....

I've been here since last August. I started all the processes for being registered to work here as a nurse and to get permanent residence over a year ago - and I'm still not registered and I still don't have permanent residence. But, I'm getting there. I just finished a course to prove my competence as a nurse - for $3500 of my own money. Now I'm waiting (again) to hear from the council of nursing. And the wait for permanent residence - who knows about that.

But, I like it here, so I'll keep doing whatever I have to in order to stay.

All I can say is: be patient. I certainly know how frustrating it is. You know they want qualified people to come here, and then you wonder why it seems so hard for some, and you hear stories of how easy it is for other people and you wonder why that is.
Arrived in Auckland on August 6, 2008.Now live in Kawakawa with my kiwi partner.
I just started working at Bay of Islands Hospital at the beginning of December 2009.
Work permit renewed and good until June 2010
EOI submitted and selected, case manager assigned and ITA received. PR application submitted 28/08/09
