    Default No case officer

    Hi,

I have sent my ITA off around two weeks ago and got all my original documents and passport returned. Apparently there is no case officer available to process my case. How long do you think it will take?
I have the weird feeling, as I just got granted a 2 year work permit, it might take ages, as I am basically not in a hurry.
I am just hoping that this is not a bad sign.

    Default hey

    Hey Karta

Just wondering that did you lodged your application with job offer or without job offer ?? And did they gave you work permit straight through ??

Are you in NZ or somewhere else ??

    Cheers

I have been in NZ since Nov 07 and I have been working in my job as Ass Restaurant manager since Sep 08, and I have an unlimited contract there. Since I came to NZ i had a work permit, and did not leave the country.

    Katja,

Which INZ branch is dealing with your application? Different branches have different processing times depending on how busy they are. It can take quite a while to have a case officer appointed to you. Again, it will probably depend on how busy that particular branch is.

If you have a job or job offer, you may not need to have an interview unless it changes when you're already in NZ.

Thanks for your answer, its Christchurch, the processing times are 3 to 6 months. i just got a bit concerned as they sent my papers back, and passport, but they probably do that so i have my documents back.

The clue to what is going on should be in any correspondence you've had from INZ. It does seem odd that they just say there is no case officer to process your case and just leave it at that. Sounds a bit final, but I guess, if they were going to refuse your application, they should have told you. It would have been helpful if they had given you an approximate time when a case officer would become available rather than just leaving you dangling.
