Question Medicals - how long for results?

Just trying to plan a time line to get everything done and I was wondering if anyone can give me an indication as to how long after having the medical is it before you get the reults? Do they come to you or straight to NZIS? I am not worried about the medicals - both OH & I are healthy, not overweight (BMI's about 30 for both of us) and the kids have no health problems that I know of. I just want to be able to plan when to have the medicals. My daughter is at Uni so I want to plan them for when she is at home over Easter but if the results take forever to come through then that might be pushing it a bit.

I am hoping that as I have a job offer once I submit the ITA it will only be about a month before we get PR. We plan to fly out late August but I don't want to leave it until the last minute to get this paperowrk sorted out.

Smile Medical results

Hi Nicky,

We had our medicals on Friday 14th December and our results / reports were available for us to collect from the surgery the following Thursday (20th).
We had our chest X-rays done on the same day and were given the plates to take along to the medicals so the Dr could check them first prior to doing all the other necessaries.
Hope this helps.

Default Medicals

Hi Nicky.
You may know this but I will tell you anyway. Medicals are only valid for three months, so keep this in mind its a lot of money to loose.
Joe.

Thanks for that joemac - I aim to get them done end of March and then submit ITA in April (provided they send me one ). Should have ITA by then if I get selected on 16th Jan with a job offer. That gives them at least 2 months to get it sent out to me .

Hi Nicky

Medical results are as said about a week from getting them carried out, but they are a tad costly with all the bloods they need to take and you cant have them taken at your own doctors it needs to be a panel doctor and a panel X ray, which is a real pain but they set the rules !!! hahaha

With 150 points id suspect you will have no prob in getitng ITA, do you have an agency here in NZ for work ? gimme a e mail if you want advice on it let me know, my wife used an agency here in Chch and got a job 4 months prior to leaving UK

Alan

Thanks Alan. I already have a job - in Chch hopsital. They are holding it for me until I arrive in September. So all I need is the PR to enable me to go.
