Default Had a telephone interview last night ....

and I think it went rather well .. without trying to tempt fate.

Ended up being more of a natter with an old friend as the chap interviewing me was so friendly .

Only real sticking point was when we could get there as we NEED to sell our house first .... anyone want it? PLEASE??

The job was in Wellington .. just outside, and a lot of their employees live in the Hutt Valley. Sounded perfect .. even the job was just up my alley (so to speak )

I just want to get things moving again now .... bet you guys are all getting fed up of my impatience?

Lou

Hi Lou

Here`s wishing you all the best for the results of your interview . What a pain that everything has to rely on the house sale. Not the best time of year for that but you never know, it could come out of the blue.

Great News about the job interveiw Lou- you couldn't get one for Neil too could ya.

Hope you get good news and that you don't have to wait too long for it.

I'm sure after xmas and new year the house market will pick up again and some one will snatch it from you.

Don't trust him, Lou - he said he'd buy our house but he didn't.

Seriously tho, good luck - we're hoping the market will pick up next year too.

That's because you declined my very generous offer of 50 quid and a plastic orange! It's the going rate for houses in the UK at the moment.

Come on Looby Lou, get y'sen and the gang over here. Can't you afford to leave the house to sell and come anyway?? We couldn't afford to do that - had to wait to release the equity in the house and all that so I know exactly where you're coming from.

Everyone here assumes if you're English you're loaded. Maybe a lot of them are but we aren't !!. Fingers crossed though eh?

Can you go over and leave Jon to mind the kiddies and the house sale?

I'll call and raise Taffy a used Kleenex.

No, we need to sell the house first .. mortgage is nearly £800 a month so can't afford that AND whatever rental etc we have in NZ.

and nice idea Selchie, but my lil uns are 3 years, and 18 months so there's no way I could leave them for potentially a few months whilst the house sells .. tis bad enough leaving them for a few hours whilst I work!

I guess we shall just have to wait until a buyer is found!

Lou

Hey Lou,
nice about the phone interview and all; would just like to say that if at all possible I would come and have a look-see before you cut all ties. ( You may have visited NZ before I came on the forum and if so, forgive me.) We have been here 5 weeks and as Dawn would say, nothing is exactly what you expect so keep an open mind. It is pretty expensive here if you want to do stuff, and in spite of in depth research we were relatively unprepared and feel a bit "cheated" after jumping the immigration hurdles; sure the geography is beautiful in places ( nothing like the Tetons in USA or Gorges de Verdon in France ) but it is not a wonderland and there are certainly hard times ahead for this country in political terms. If you want to realise a dream and be self employed then it would be a shame to get stuck in a rut in comuter belt Hutt land. Incidentally both of us have been given interviews since we arrived and we have both declined the jobs.

NZ needs to be seen with a wide angled view not the tight shots that are presented to us naive dreamers far away; a crate of Tui maketh not the man but destroys the nation!
