Admittedly, however, I've probably talked about it less in the past year since it stopped being an idle dream and started being a potential reality. ?I'm pretty tight-lipped about it because I don't really want to answer any questions about why. ?
My situation exactly. Once I actually submitted the EOI I really didn't talk much about it, nor want to. Even after selection - and now assembling ITA materials - I will talk about it if asked but otherwise no. In part because I know it's all still up in the air, I read these board and other tales of immigration-gone-wrong on the net and I realize there are still so many ways to be derailed.

A strange air of contingency has entered the proceedings. We can be discussing some future event, "next time we do xxx", and it's not certain that I will be around to do it. Unusual, this.

:)
I think it is called 'facing reality'. ?Before it was a dream, or a goal to achieve that acceptance to move to New Zealand.?Now it is going to happen. ?

So many people emigrate with high expectations, certain that it was 'meant' for them to live in NZ. ?Of course, it is great to hear about their excitement and optimism, and for some it seems to continue after they have made the move. ?The trouble is that life can throw its punches wherever you live and those, along with emotional hitches, can sometimes derail some new immigrants. ? I suppose it is a bit like a test - some pass with flying colours, some fail, most come in between. ?
:)

It is *very* strange to think about the uncertainty of the 'next time' but nowhere near as strange as thinking about the finality of the 'last time' you'll do something!

When we go to New Zealand, I doubt I'll ever make it back to Montreal, Quebec City, Bar Harbor Maine, Storyland with my kids ... ?It makes me a little sad, but thinking about all the firsts we'll have in NZ pushes away any maudlin thoughts that come creeping in.

<on edit> Hello Duane1x! Good luck with your ITA!

Got an e-mail yesterday from the London Branch ... they need my NZTC before they can begin processing my application. :(

However, on a hunch I went to the NZTC website to see if there was any online tracking of applications. ?I didn't find any (not surpising, since I had looked 3 or 4 times alread!) but did see that there is a Register of NZ teachers. ?So ... I plugged in my number from my receipt of application .... and ....

;D ?I'm now a provisional teacher in New Zealand! ?Now I just have to wait in NZ Post to get that letter here ASAP!

That's great news.

I continue to wait on NZQA full assessment. I have not seen anything on line for checking status on this, and so I tried phoning them up - after a while on hold waiting in queue I hung up and emailed. I did get a response - they are running way behind their quoted 20 working day turnaround. I think I should have ponied up the $150 for expedited service.

Ouch ... If forget where you are in the overall process, but you needn't wait for NZQA's report to send in your visa application (if that's where you are).

My overall experience so far is that when any organization says 'X to Y weeks' (or months) they really mean Y. I've never had anything come back in less than the maxium time. I guess that's the price of the more laid back lifestyle I'm looking for!

Hang in there ... If I can do it, you can too! :D

Default Interview Scheduled

It's been quite a week, with lots of progress.

NZIS has finally gotten to my application ... the London office made a huge leap forward with its pool, and now is reviewing ITA's received upto mid-February. I was hoping that the X-Mas holiday would have meant less applications being submitted, and it seems it did, since at their earlier pace my turn wouldn't have come until sometime in mid-May.

I have my telephone interview with Anne Warren-Perkinson on May 8th! Think warm thoughts for me, please! :)

Nearer and nearer.

Well done Kiwi Hopeful and, of course, all the very best for the interview. It'll be a doddle. Have you brushed up on the list of possible questions posted on here a while ago?
