Sending Passports?

Hi everybody.

I have just been selected from the pool and will hopefully get my ITA in a short while.

I am actually in NZ just now and my wife and daughter are still in the UK.

I am a little concerned about the logistics of the documentation required for the ITA. Specifically our passports.

Would my family have to send all of the relative documents (including passports) to me here in NZ so I can submit them here.

The reason is that I am in the process of applying for work a permit so my passport is with the NZIS at the moment. The plan was that as soon as I get my WP, my wife would apply for hers and my daughter for a study permit. This would allow them to come out here as soon as possible.

I think we may have to wait for the work permits before submitting an ITA?

When we applied we had holiday just when passports were due to be submitted with ITA. The case officer said we could send photocopies but they had to be certified by a solicitor saying we are the people in the passport, which allowed us to keep our passports here, worth speaking to your case officer.

When PR was granted we had to travel to nz house in London to have them put into our passports.

Could you not just say 'Applied for' on the ITA form with regard to the Work Permit? The form just asks for information about the permit e.g. when it was dated from etc. and doesn't ask you to actually send it in (as far as I can see). It might be one way to speed things up and you can update NZIS once the permit comes through. NZIS should be aware that getting all the relevant paperwork together in one neat heap isn't always possible.

I havent received my WP yet so i guess i will have to wait and see what info they really want.

Do you know if the WP people and the PR people actually talk to eachother> For example I have done all the medicals, police report work contract etc etc for the WP and to me it seems obvious for the PR folks to get info from them?

It would seem logical, if you don't have to do another medical and police check for PR, that somewhere along the line the system links up to this information. If that weren't the case, everyone would have to do two medicals and police checks if they go the WP route to PR.

AAhhh LOGICAL!!

That would mean a certain amount of....common sense!!

I somehow think that being logical would be the logic thing to do but if I think in a logic way then it seems logical to me that the logistics of the logics could not end in a logical conclusion!!!

Blimey I think I confused myself with that...
