    Default Medicals - heart murmur

    Hi again
Went for our medicals yesterday and all was well until our youngest (16) was told she had a heart murmur - its never been picked up before. He did say it was 'insignificant', but still needs further investigation by cardiologist and NZIS will need another report (and more money!). Anyone got any experience of similar issue and what NZIS views are?

Otherwise we are all ready to sent back ITA.

    Any help would be great.

    Default Medicals - heart murmur

    Hi Rho

I think, as long as it isn't a condition that will turn out to be a 'burden' (as they put it) on the NZ health system, it shouldn't cause a problem, especially if the doctor doesn't think it's significant. I've heard of others with a similar problem, but it didn't affect their applications.

You are correct in saying it's pretty much just more money. All they want to check for in this instance is that it will not cause problems in her everyday life, and will not cause problems in her future.

Yeah, as long as it isn't serious you'll be fine.

And no one knew you had it until now.....it's probably not too serious [smiley=icon_biggrin.gif]
