Default How did you package your ITA submission?

I know this might seem like a silly question, but how have you packaged your ITA submission? The guidelines say not to use a folder or plastic sleeves. I was thinking of using a 3-ring binder, but my wife is concerned that punching holes in the documents might be a bad idea.

There's 4 of us, so our application will be pretty thick. I suppose we could just use a big metal clip, but I'm afraid documents could easily come loose and get lost.

Welcome to the forum, Ace. No, NZIS don?t much care for plastic folders, as they are very slippery when in a pile or other documents. It?s also possible that it?s a bit fiddly for them if they have to open folders and pull out the contents instead of just picking up the file and getting stuck in. I don?t know if you could partially enclose each person?s file in a sheet of, say, A4 (i.e. loose wrap it around the left edge of the bundle) just to keep that person?s file separate, but not hindering NZIS getting to the it easily. Alternatively slip a big elastic band around each file then stick it all in a large envelope ready to send with a check list on the outside to state what you?ve enclosed. The 3-ring binder might be too bulky for the purpose and would add to the cost of sending the package. Might also cause difficulty if they want to split the papers up.

Do you live within striking distance of NZIS where you could actually deliver it personally? You would know it had got there safely then. I?m sure there?s others on here that can advise you on how they dealt with theirs.

I just put all my evidence in the order they asked for in one big pile then put it in a large brown envelope.

I did however, travel down to London to hand it in personally where someone checked it through with me to make sure everything was there.

I live in California (in Silicon Valley, south of SF). I'm planning to send the package by FedEx or DHL to London, as per the instructions.

A few extra dollars for a slightly heavier package is no problem. Compared to the overall cost of everything we had to do for the application, that would be in the noise (the medical exams alone for the 4 of us, without the lab work, were US$1200).

Ace, I recommend you send it via USPS Global Express Mail. You can track it just like Fed Ex, but I believe it's less expensive. We paid just under $36 to send an application for two, with Xrays. It arrived in 3 to 5 days. The Fed Ex rep said it could cost us over $100 to send it with them. I'm not sure which method he meant (e.g. overnight).

We just slipped a rubber band around the pile, to keep it from slipping and reshuffling. We didn't want to add any extra weight, so did not clip it. So far, no one has scolded us.

Hi
We used two elastic bands, put one horizontally and one vertically so nothing could slip out then put it in a padded envelope.

Good luck and hope you get a speedy response.
