Hi,

Just a quick question can you tell me how much you paid for your medicals??

We have just had a terrible experience with the doctor and I'm ready to complain but just wanted to know if there was a sort of standard rate for it.

Thanks in advance,

Shaz

Hi Shaz, this question came up recently on another forum and from the different replies it would appear prices vary GREATLY around the country. We live in York and paid the following;

Adult medical ?110
Adult x-ray ?55
Child medical ?55
Blood tests ?15
Extra hep B blood test for hubby as he works in health system ?30

Please note though that we had the March 2005 medicals. The new (August 2005) medicals which are currently being used are more thorough, have more blood tests and are an awful lot more expensive.

Unfortunately it would appear that the GP's can charge whatever the hell they want as we have to use them. :notfair: I know from some of the posts I mentioned earlier people managed to save a considerable amount of money by travelling to a different part of the country - it doesn't need to be far away (maybe the next city?) and may prove financially beneficial, particularly if there are 3 or 4 of you. :smiley9:

Sorry for the long post.
HTH
Louise

Thanks for your reply Louise, which is very helpful.

We have actually had them done now. We live in Spain and had to travel back to London specially for the medical. When I phoned they told me ?70 each, which was obviously fine. When we got there he charged us ?330 each!!!! Luckily it was just me and my husband. Still really annoyed and my husband is going to phone and see what he is told about the charges. To be honest it was all a complete disaster and the doctor was a horrible man!

Never mind thanks again for your prompt response.

I know it doesn't help you now Shaz but we paid;

?65 per medical Adult
?35 per medical child
?30 per blood test (our children were to young)
?36 per x-rayAdult

In total for the four of us 2 adults and 2 children it came to ?332. We had them at the start of sep in Kent.

Skybluearmy

Whereabouts in Kent did you go for your medicals? We live in Essex and a trip over the Dartford Bridge might be worthwhile for that price.

We have been quoted
?145 per adult medical inc blood tests
?65 per child
?65 per Xray each
