Default ITA lodged but no job offer

Hi,

Really excited - ITA lodged in London on 11th July - however I have no job offer and wondered how long it will take to get the decision - noticed on a few posts 'PR approved in principle' what does this actually mean - i.e. can you then get your flights booked and get out there ??

Cheers,
Sam - NuKiwi in training .....

Hi Sam,

Thats a toughy to answer... How long it can take without a job offer can vary quite a lot. Mostly it seems to take at least a few months to get your application seen, and then several more months for them to process it.

PR approved in principle can have 2 meanings. Firstly, your application is assessed by a case officer, who will approve you in principle, but then your application goes to someone else for a second opinion, at which point you are still approved in principle, pending payment of your migrant levy.. its at that point after you've paid you are approved totally!

Default re no job offer

Thanks for this Taffy - aqnother question if you don't mind ....

A couple of posts have had an interview date on them quite quickly after lodging - I thought interviews were only for those with no job offers ??? ever hopeful that this process can go a bit more quickly !!

Anyway looks like I'll need to get my job hunting into gear ......notice you're in Hamilton ....one of the places we are considering

thanks for the info

cheers, Sam.

Default ITA lodged but no job offer

Hello;
If you haven't got a job offer then you will have to have an interview but this is relatively straight forward. The case officer assigned to your case will ask you several questions regarding how you intend to find employment, how you will support yourself/family whilst seeking employment, what support you will have in New Zealand...family etc, I was even asked about how my children felt. The main aim is to be sure you have considered all these factors.

My application was dealt with very quickly, although I have no job offer. This was because I actually took my ITA to New Zealand Hse. Because it was quiet, the lady who checked through my ITA and evidence asked if I would mind having my interview there and then. Although a bit shocked I did manage to answer all of the questions as I had already devised a plan of how I would manage in NZ until I secured employment.

I would suggest simply writing down your plan of the move, covering the above and keep this to hand ready for the interview.....I do beleive most interviews are conducted over the telephone.

Good luck with your application :icon_razz: ....it is a fab feeeling when you get PR. We are not moving until Jan 06...time is now dragging!!!! :013:

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the info - very encouraging !! I'll certainly take your advice and prepare some answers - no probs about my two boys 7 & 11 - they are desperate to go - beach & sun all summer & skiing in winter ......

Good luck to you - new year - new life - the wait will be worth it !!!

Cheers, Sam.
