Default What to do if I need to extend my RRV?

Hopefully someone will be able to help. As most of you know we moved to NZ in 2008 with PR and returned to UK the following year. Our RRV's expire in September this year. My daughter is planning on returning to NZ sometime in the next couple of years to take a year out and work with her church in NZ. Will her PR still be active? would it just be a case of applying for another RRV? We also plan to visit for a month around the same time. If DD decides to stay for good who knows - we may decide too. In which case we would need another RRV. It is not clear on INZ site the rules around this. Has anyone experienced this before?

    Hi Nicky

INZ can be a bit anal about RRV's if you haven't been in the country for the required 6 months in each of the first 2 years. You should be able to apply for an extension but, without any particularly good reason why you aren't there and aren't likely to be there for sure in the near future, they might only extend for a couple of weeks which might not be any use to you.

Once your RRV runs out, I think your PR does too and you would need to start all over again. I've got a link for INZ's RRV pages but it's on my PC which will be up and running again tomorrow. On hubster's laptop at the moment. I'll check the link out but I've got an idea, when I've read through it in the past, I couldn't find anywhere where it told you how and where to apply for an extension. Not very helpful but I guess you'd have to approach INZ themselves for this.

Thanks MB. It does look as if DD may have to arrange a WHV so she can work with the church - even if it is unpaid. We will have to visit as planned for a holiday on a VV. If DD decides to stay it seems she will have to apply for PR in her own right. Don't fancy going through it all again for us or the cost so we will just be visitors as planned. Just hope she doesn't decide to stay or the move back willhave been for nothing - almost!!!
