Default Hi there, I'm from Cheshire England.

I am a primary school teacher, I'm married and have one child who is now at Manchester uni.
My husband and I are going travelling for 11 months. Soon We'll be flying to Singapore for 3 days, Australia for a month, NZ for 9 months and then South Africa for a month.
We've never ever done anything like this before so we are so excited. We have someone to rent the house and look after the cat, we've got a garage to put all our stuff in, our son's got a house to share with friends and it's all falling into place.

I think these smiley things are ace!

Hi Plughole. Welcome to the forum.

I'm working backwards now as I have just replied to your other post. After reading this post I'm even more confused about your situation now . Would I be right in thinking you will be visiting NZ with a view to working there temporarily?

I'm not sure about temporary teachers in NZ, but I know that full time ones need to be registered by the Teachers Council before they can work.

    Hi motherbear,
Yes I intend to find temporary work. I've had my qualifications assessed and have teaching council registration. It took me ages to get all the certificates together and fill in forms and I bet you think I'm mad to do this when I'm only going to be there for 9 months. But it will be worth the experience I think.

Ah, OK, that's a bit clearer now . Sounds like a wonderful trip of a lifetime.

You would need to get a job offer though before you can apply for a work visa. Maybe you will be lucky and get a fill-in job for someone who has gone on maternity leave or long term holiday.
