    Default Hi all

    Hi all

Just checking to say hi. Am originally from the US, but have been in NZ since 1977. My wife is Chinese and is applying for PR through the partnership category with me.

We have an interview next week, and am looking for questions they might ask. I guess, stuff like what's your husband / wife's fav colour, fav music, etc. huh?

    Cheers!

Hi Robotnik and welcome to MTNZ.

I guess your interview would be to make sure that you are established as a couple and are likely to continue to be so. You could read through the questions for the Skilled Migrant Category and see if any of them might apply to you both. Questions may be asked about your relationship and perhaps, due to your wife's nationality, she may be asked how she thinks she's likely to settle in NZ and what she has in mind to help her integrate with kiwi life.

Must admit, I haven't heard of anyone else having an interview under the Partnership Category. Maybe I've just led a sheltered life.

Yay, just got the news today that my wife's PR application was accepted.

Took 'em long enough though - six weeks since the interview before they told us. Actually, the interview (for partnership) was a real interrogation. Took almost two hrs eventhough our case was pretty straightforward really.

    Congratulations!

Are you able to share what kind of questions they asked during the interview? Others may find that very helpful and this topic does crop up from time to time.

Hmm they were a bit picky including asking details about our marriage which was a few years ago now.

Here's a few that I can think of:
    1. Where were you / your partner living (the exact street address) before you got married - this was tough because it was years ago and my partner and I changed addresses a few times in that time.

    2. Where did you / your partner live after you got married - again exact address wanted.

    3. How did you meet?

    4. Where did you meet?

    5. Who is you / your partner's best friend?

    6. What is your current address?

    7. Do you own or rent?

    8. Whose name is the tenancy agreement in?

    9. What is you / your partner's favorite food?

    10. Who does the cooking / housework?

    11. Who is your phone provider?

    12. Where do you / your partner work?

    13. What hours do you / your partner work?

    14. What will you do if your application for PR is turned down?

Thanks very much for posting those questions, Robotnik. I'm sure they will be very useful to those who find themselves in a similar situation.
