    Smile planning, Questions, Advice

    hello my friends
I have some questions. I work on ships and my girfriend which works with me is a New Zealand citizen. She will quit ships at the end of the year. my questions are:
Is there any chance that i acan apply for a working visa uder partnership policy if we live on a ship? has any of you worked on a ship before? Would INZ consider that as "living toghether in a stabel and genuine relationship"?
nr 2 . can I go to NZ as a tourist ( I don`t need a visa) and apply from there. The problem is that apparently I need to submit my ORIGINAL passport with my application which for me sounds weird. That would be risky if I`d have to leave the country in 90 days, beacuse that is how long I can stay as a tourist. I would need my passport.
nr 3 Could I have my medical done in another country than the one I live in? Like can i do it while I am in NZ as a toursit?
nr. 4 Does anyone know if I can take my police certificate now and apply after 6-7 months? Same question for the medical
nr 5 does anyone know what course I could take when I get there? for example in a trade , what level of certificate or diplomas would be needed? Since I`ve worked with people i would consider something in the airline-travel -ticketing-hotel-casinos industry first. I am now a casino dealer
As I need to plan everything in advance I would really appreciate any kind of advice from the experts. I found some intresting answers on this forum, and it can help undesrtanding INZ we site which can be difficult to work with at times!
    Thank you in advance

If your girlfriend is a kiwi and complies with the requirements to be able to sponsor you, I would hope INZ would accept that you live on a ship as long as you are together.

You could go to NZ and apply under the Family Stream from there but, until your work permit comes through, you would not be allowed to work. What you would have to be careful about is whether your visit visa would extend long enough to cover the time it will take for your partnership application to come through. It may take some time. I think they may need your original passport with your application so that they can put the visa in it as well as for validation of it. You could send it to them but explain that you need it back quickly and the reason why or they may accept a certified copy but would need the original at the end to put the visa in.

Yes, if you have it done in NZ you can use any General Practioner rather than having to use a Panel Doctor especially authorised by INZ. It could be cheaper that way, too.

A police certificate only lasts for 6 months and a medical certificate only for 3 months so you must send them off to INZ with your application before they expire. If you wait too long before you submit them, you will have to do them again.

You would have to approach various educational institutes e.g. colleges to find out what courses are available that you would be interested in following. It may be enough that you get on-the-job training if you can find a job that does this.
Hope you can make sense of this .

    Default thank you

Mother Bear you are really good. Thanks for the response. This kind of little detalies are difficult to find. I will probably apply at the end of the year and keep you updated with how it is going.
