    Smile Lurker "coming" out....

I have dropped in every now and then to read the advices given, and as a spouse to a homesick Kiwi, we are about (early October) to head to NZ permanently to live on the west coast of the North Island.

I wasn't sure until recently that I should post. You see because the Other Half is a Kiwi, I come and go fairly frequently, although admittedly on the same beaten track each trip as we do the rounds of the relos...

However I have a couple of questions, some thoughts for others, and knew it was time to introduce myself (well sort of)....

Hi Nesw and welcome to the forum. It's good to have your input.

If you're living in Oz, at least your OH isn't that far from home and can hop across the pond to NZ quite easily. Usually the flow is from NZ to Oz, but it's encouraging for the rest of us that your OH wants to go the other way and return to NZ .

MotherBear its something he has wanted to do for many years, but circumstances have prevented him from doing so.

Last night we had a call from family in NZ whose family have decided to come to Aussie immediately because they were talked into how "good" things are here compared to NZ.

Now whilst I would agree weatherwise, I grocery shop in NI and I don't find groceries any dearer on the outskirts of Auckland including Franklin district, than I do back here.
Whilst fuel and autogas are cheaper here, once we have taken into account the exchange rate its virtually the same..

What I do know is in NSW our car registration and insurance costs are HUGE compared to NZ.
