Thumbs up Hi! New here! An introduction.

Hello to everyone. I hope I've posted this in the right place!? :)

My name is Siān, I am currently in England and hope to move NZ with my partner and 9 year old daughter as soon as we possibly can!

We haven't decided which part of NZ yet, as there are so many tempting locations! But we do like the idea of being near the coastal line.

We started talking about looking into such a move, seriously, about two years ago, but with hectic work schedules it was just talk for a long while.

I work in Nursing And Healthcare and my partner in IT. My daughter is in year four at primary school.

It would be great to get feed back from people who have moved over from England, well anywhere! So that we can really start looking into certain areas and weigh up any Pros and Cons.

Thanks for reading, look forward to get to know people.

Hi Siān and . Glad you could join us in our quest to get to NZ.

If you haven't got set ideas on where you want to settle, at least you can be flexible when it comes to finding a job offer. So many folks decide where they want to go, but then find there aren't any suitable jobs on offer in that area. It's always good to go with the flow.

Good luck with your efforts to achieve your dream.

Hi there Mother Bear, and thanks for the very warm welcome.

I was wondering what the job situation is like, how likely are we to find work?
I am in Nursing and Healthcare, my partner works in IT.

    Thanks for your well wish.

    Kind regards,

    Siān.

Health care and nursing is in demand so you won't have an issue. Depending on your spouse's IT specialty he won't have an issue either. If his expertise in in mainframes the market is much smaller but jobs are sill there because the available resource poll is small. IT jobs are mainly in the bigger cities like Auckland, Wellington, ChCh, etc. IT jobs can be found in the smaller areas but will pay a lot less.

Look on seek.co.nz to see what is available in your areas of preference for a current gauge on the market.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Cheers

Hi and welcome from me too.

Beng in Healthcare ad IT neither of you should have much trouble finding work.
Like some of the others have mentioned the bigger cities are going to offer most of the job opportunities and the fct you have decided on a specific area will also make things esier- you can go where the work is.

    Hello and welcome sian,

I am sure you will have found out about many NZ job sites already. For the hubby, there is a IT group called the wellies which my hubby is a member of (hes in IT too) and he got some info from there. There are lots of IT jobs out there you just have to keep looking :)

For you.. in healthcare, I'm really not sure but there are a few nurses on the forum so i am sure they can point you in the right direction.

Anyway, just wanted to say HI and all the best.

    ebianca, hello there.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Well I am feeling really good about the fact that info so far suggests that in our line of work, we should find it pretty much an easy thing to do finding work.

We were thinking of finding a coastal location to move to, but we are still having a look see at the moment.

    Kind regards to you.
