Try this (Auckland) number +64 9914 4100. I've phoned them a few times & found them very helpful.

Or you can submit a question here

Hmmm!

Go to www.immigration.govt.nz
Select "Branch Contacts" from left hand side
Under the "Contact us online" heading, select the 1st option "Information".

Sorry I couldn't find an email address.

When we were at the Expo last weekend, we were told you had to remain with your job offer position for 6 months minimum by the Immigration seminar chappie. I asked if you were able to move within that 6 month period to another comparable position and he recommended you don't. You can contact the Immigration people in London direct on a telephone number (which I don't have to hand) which costs ?1 per minute! I believe you can also email them. Try their website and at the end of it put /london as there is further contact info on those pages as well as a list of employers looking for people through them too.

GOOD LUCK! and hope that helps a wee bit.

Jane

The link is working for me, which is very unusual. If anyone has trouble getting into things or with things not working it's always me .

Why do they say it's 3 months on their website if they're telling people it's 6 months? Quoted from the link above...

A residence visa

If you were issued a residence visa, you must still meet some requirements to ensure you remain a New Zealand resident.

* If you claimed points for an offer of skilled employment, you must take that job up within three months of being granted your permit. You must also stay in that job for at least three months and provide us with evidence that you have met these requirements within seven months of being granted your first residence permit.
* If you got points for already having a skilled job that you have held for less than three months, you must stay in the job until three months is up.

Sounds like the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing. It wouldn't be the first time that I've heard of different people within INZ giving differing answers to the same question. It really is quite dangerous. I've also read somewhere that you can change your job but it must be for another equally skilled position in the same field. I've no doubt that they would prefer you to stay put in your job as it's tidier but telling people they MUST stay in it is a bit dodgy if it's not true.

Thanks for the update on the London area of the website will definately be looking that up this weekend. I located the area on the website for emailing questions and have just done so. Just have to wait for a response now.....

I heard it was 6 months at he expo last weekend too. If it all so confusing I will definately try the number as a last resort but a ?1 a minute is a bit steep.

Will let you know how I get on once I get a reply.

I've never phoned the London number! Phone Auckland & they'll give you the info you need. I only pay 2p/min to NZ but this will depend on what package you're on with your phone provider, but it won't be ?1/min!
