Hi everybody Newbies here !!!!

New to the forum and to NZ been here for 4 weeks and still trying to settle in, currently in Christchurch and loving it.

Thought id say hi

first attempt at introducing ourselves was a tad short........ sorry.

We have been here for 4 weeks now, arrived to a wet cold Saturday in November !!! which was not expected we were told of all the sunshine..... ect.

Anyhoos, theres me my lovely wife and the wee angel (terror) that is our 2 year old daughter.

So what have we been up to so far........ managed to rent a house just off Fitzgerald Ave. and more importantly managed to get our daughter into Kindi........ my that was a struggle there all full !!!!!

My better half is working at Chch general hosp. and I even managed to get a short term contract job, so everything is looking good. Still adjusting to this whole Christmas in Summer ........

Not missing the UK but really missing the people there, can be a bit hard just the three of us.

Depending on which end of Fitzgerald you're on, you're either right down the road from us or up the road a bit.

We have a 2 1/2 year old (if you look closely, you can actually see the horns coming out of his head) and a 5 year old. Definitely can relate to the difficulties finding childcare!

Cheers for the reply's folks, we are on Hereford St on Fitz so we must be right next to you !!!

Think we struck lucky with the child care managed to get the last place ....... phew but she is settling in ok and loving the outdoor lifestyle.

We are always on the look out for suggestions on what to do, where to go, we have done the obvious, Sumner etc. and Hamner been as far up as Kiakoura (forgive spelling) so help suggestions is welcome to while away the weekends, due to sever lack of furniture as it is some where in a container on route ....... we think

We have a 2 (on Friday) year old and a 4 year old but can't help out too much as we aren't in NZ yet and still don't know where we are heading.

Sounds like you are all settleing in well- how was the flight with a 2yr old in tow?

Hi Beth, flight with a 2 year old was ok, we had done a RTW trip earlier this year for our honeymoon so we knew she would be ok, however we went via Dubai with a direct flight to Sydney then to Chch, we stopped in Dubai for 4 days then Sydney for 1 night to recover.

The flight from Dubai to Sydney was hard it is about 20ish hours and she didn't sleep atall so she was a tad manic !!!!! then you have to land in Bangkok to refuel and also to have the OZ MAF security sweep done on the plane so you have to get off wander about for an hour or so then re board !!! that is hard.

But all in all it was a good flight, I would highly recommend United Arab Emirates for the flight, the seats are roomier and the service is excellent.

Just a word of warning - if you wish your stay to continue in this enjoyable, kind of not a care in the world vane stay away from any New Englanders you come across down there. Especially those that live on Fitz - run for your life.......
