Karin & I are more cautious than many of the youthful and daring folks on the forum.
We must fall into this category of Selchies.

My OH and I and our 2 young children are taking the plunge.
We have our house on the market and are just selling up and going.

We don't have enough points for PR without securing a job offer so we are heading out with no guarentees and will apply for PR once we are there and OH has got himself a job offer.

If all else fails we can come home and we will be able to say we gave it a go.

Default about Macfod

I have looked into the LTBV option and read all about Macfod, i think he was the exception to the rule as there is no way they will let me in that way i do not own a business and have never had managerial skills.
I am an accounts assistant and am currently taking an extra study course to improve my qualifications, im told immigration wont accept a job offer as an accounts assistant is this true do you know.
If so i will try to continue and gain qualifications to become an accountant which i dont want to do and would only be doing it to get into the country, i think the fact that my parents live there and that i am educated have worked in a well paid job for 15 years am english speaking and have a few thousand dollars as well as a house to sell i should be welcolmed in with open arms but no, dont you think all us UK,Kiwi and Australians should all have free access to live in each others countries we are after all from the same mother country, now which politition would agree with me?

I think it's all down to control. They have these border controls to make sure we don't all rush to the country with the most to offer and overcrowd it. Pity they don't exercise a bit more control in the UK. NZ is looking to encourage the cream of the crop to immigrate there, so that the country can gain from skills and experience it's short of, so I suppose you can say its immigration policies are self-serving to a large extent. If you don't fit in the appropriate slots, you have to battle your way in or give up trying.

I guess improving your qualifications can't be a bad thing as I don't see INZ taking you in as an accounts assistant. They're more looking for managerial types or qualified accountants. It is very sad when family members can't be together in one country but, when you consider that some families are quite extensive (e.g. from the Pacific Islands, India, China etc.) they have to draw the line somewhere or the country would be flooded with people who don't necessarily bring to it what it really needs.
