    Default Dan-ish's re-introduction thread

    Hey Gordon and others...

I'm Dan (you may have read my adventure...?), and I would also dearly love to move to NZ. I am also a primary school teacher like Gordo.

I have been uber busy the last few years what with qualifying and passing my NQT year, but am now beginning to think about how I can get myself over to NZ for good.

I too would be interested to hear from teachers in NZ - how much Maori will I have to learn, can I wear flip-flops (thongs) as a teacher in school, and will I be able to persuade them that an after school football (soccer) club would be viable?

Look forward to hearing from you all again

    Dan

Hey dan-ish, welcome back to the forum, loooooooooooooooong time no see

Congrats on gaining your NQT Not sure how much Maori you'd have to learn, just the basics if you won't be teaching in a Maori-only school I should imagine. And yes, as a teacher, you can wear flip-flops (UK speak)/thongs (Australian speak)/jandals (Kiwi speak). And I have no doubt that an after-school soccer club would be welcomed - parent sport volunteers are welcomed with open arms in most schools, so I'd say go for it

What do you think of Taffy's all-singing all-dancing forum now?

Anyway, hope to hear more from you soon - welcome back

I've taken the liberty of giving Dan his very own thread so he can enjoy his very own replies without getting mixed up with anyone else's.
