Default Introduce Yourself!

I must say... have been here long enough reading all the EOI/ITA/visa/etc./etc./etc. stuff... never really spent much time in the other areas. Quite a lot of interesting info out there (cow farts incl !!) ;D

Here goes my intro:

My name is Rahul & I am here in Auckland since july 05.
Was working in Indonesia before taking the big leap to NZ.
Came here to visit in May. Got a good job offer Put the eoi in. Went back n came in with a work-visa (+ 6 suitcases). Got the ITA and submitted it recently.
All the way, this forum has been my FP&G on this very bumpy journey to NZ.
Am relaxed now : (hence reading these non-imm areas)

keen on contributing my 2cents worth to this great forum !! Keep up the good work guys !!

cheers

Hi Rahul ,

A belated ‘welcome’ to the forum and congratulations on getting a good job offer in Auckland.  Hope it’s all going well for you.  We will surely be very interested in any information you can contribute to those of us who aren’t fortunate enough to have made the move yet.  Thank you for the offer.

Hi everyone, I joined yesterday so be gentle with me. My EOI went in last week, I'm a nurse hopeing to work and live in the Hawkes Bay area, is there anyone from that area out there? Coming out to visit in Nov and got a job interview at Hastings Hospital. Only got 115 points on my EOI but wondered can I re submit my EOI when I get a job offer? if so will I have to pay the fee again?

Welcome aboard Mollytess. Congratulations on getting as far as a job interview :023: . Hope it goes well for you. If you do get a job offer, I think you just need to alert NZIS and they will review your points. A job offer will, obviously, bode very well for your application and could speed up the process. I don?t think we have anyone already in Hawkes Bay, so perhaps you?ll be the first and you can report back on how life is in that neck of the woods :icon_biggrin: .

Have a great trip and we?ll look forward to hearing some good news from you in November.

Default Introduce Yourself!

Greetings to all! I have been reading this forum for a bit, and thought it was about time I say gidday! I have read so much about immigrating you would think I could work for NZIS by now. But sadly I've found the more info i glean from the myriad websites the more questions I have. I hope to learn from your experiences and I look forward to chatting you guys up at a regular clip. My biggest question: Do I go it alone? Or do I trust the various jobfinder/immigration service websites with their canned marketing emails and pay-me first and I might aknowledge your alive attitudes? It would bring me real pleasure to pay a company that would do an initial e-mail consultation that was from a real human and actually described what services they actually provide.....but alas the search continues.

On this forum I think you would be mobbed into taking the 'go it alone' approach to immigration.  These consultants can be horribly expensive and you would, no doubt, just end up with the same result, only a lot poorer in your bank balance.  I believe everyone on here is doing or has done the process themselves and lived to tell the tale.  If you need to know something or want confirmation of a point, just ask.  It may take a short while to get an answer due to the varying time zones we are all in and our band of active members is not that large, but, hopefully we should be able to help you out.  Others have made it to NZ despite our interferance

We toyed with the idea of using a consultant, thinking that the process would be too confusing. But they wanted $9000, and wouldn't give us much info on what we would get for our money. Immigration fees were definitely extra.

We muddled through on our own, and so far haven't been told that we screwed up horribly. The biggest pain for me was keeping track of what needed to be done, and what we were waiting on, such as police checks. If you have any organization skills, you should be able to do it. Keep notes, mark your calendar, and stay on target. It did occupy my attention for a while, but not enough to pay someone else $9K to do it for me.

The immigration consultants may also offer a job search "club" and recommendations for movers and pet shippers, but forums like this one can help you with a lot of that for free (donations are probably accepted, though).

Good luck!
