Great News everyone.

We have just accepted an offer on our house so we can start the process of moving our lives to New Zealand.

Once the money is in the bank my hubby can quit his job.
He will then jump on a plane and visit New Zealand and line up some interviews etc whilst I stay with his father with our two little girls.

Have to take the gamble like this as we only have 70 points unless we have a job offer then we have about 150.

We will be visiting the New Zealand expo in London at the end of March- hopefully hubby will get some good contacts there- he's in IT.

We have everything crossed now- it is all very exciting but also scarry as we are giving up everything with no guarentte of getting a job or residency.
That is great news ... it must be such a relief to have a contract on the house. Hope it all goes through OK. Guess it is all go now for planning the move!

:)

Well done, Ebianca. A step in the right direction.

It's like stepping off a precipice when you venture into the unknown, but it's going to be a very exciting time for you so enjoy. Wishing you the very best of luck with it all.

Hi there

I am a kiwi and have lived here all my life. I decided to join this forum because I have a friend in America who is wanting to move here and I've been trying to make sense of the immigration website and googling immigration and I thought I could find some useful posts here :)

Hi Mea, ? [smiley=006.gif]

Welcome! ?I am sure there are some useful posts in this forum for your friend. ?Don't hesitate in asking any questions - if we can help, we will. ? :)

Since you are a bona fide Kiwi, it would be awesome if you could put straight those questions that leave us wannabes flummoxed ... can't think of a question at the moment, except, perhaps - what do you do with a tamarillo? ? :D

:) ?

Unfortunately I've never eaten a tamarillo so I can't say lol, but it's a fruit isn't it?
We never had them in my house growing up, I guess mum didn't like them hehe

Hello Mea. I hope Taffy's site will help you help your friend. Perhaps your friend might join us as well? I might be able to help with any US-specific questions.

Thank you so much selchie, that's very nice of you.
At the moment I feel like I'm in limbo, he just told me yesterday that his application was denied and I think he feels that that is it. However, I emailed a simple to question to a consultancy firm and after a couple of replies they said if he wants to pay the fee and fill out their questionaire they'll look into his situation, so I just this minute fwd that to my friend, I won't talk to him again till Sunday so I just have to wait and see now.

One word of caution....be careful when dealing with consultants. ?The usual feelings on immigration forums seem to be to warn people off them as they often take a LOT of money off you, but don't give much back in return. ?At the end of the day it's their client who has to supply all the answers anyway so you've done most of the work for them. ?Here's a link to a previous thread and at the bottom of the page and the following page you can see what some people think of consultants. ? Maggie's first post also tells it's own story. There have been several other threads in the same tone. I've heard of very few people who have been satisfied with the work their consultant has done. ?I'm sure there are some good ones out there, but they're few and far between.
