Default Approved PR, can I quit now?

My PR has been approved, and I have sent my passport in about a week ago.
They have charged the levy to my credit card.
How long should it take to get it back?

If I quit my job now, could that impact the issuing of the permit?

(I am in NZ and are working on a Work Permit linked to my Employer. I've been having a hard time with this employer and I want to change jobs as soon as possible.)

If you got your PR through the Skilled Migrant Category and are hoping to find another job using the same skills, I guess that would be OK for the short term. I have it in the back of my mind that you may have to work in a job (using these skills) for which you claimed points for a minimum of 3 months after getting PR. Perhaps someone will verify this?

How long it takes to get your passport back will no doubt depend on how busy the branch is.

Yes, if your permit is subject to section 18A requirements, in which case MotherBear is right, that you need to stay in your (skilled) job for at least 3 months.
    Refer to INZ Operations Manual.
04/11/09 - EOI selected (125 points, no job offer)
    30/11/09 - Decision successful
    09/12/09 - ITA received
    23/12/09 - Application submitted
03/03/10 - Case officer assigned (requested more documents)
05/03/10 - Job offer secured (IT)
12/03/10 - Work permits issued (1 year ISSL, 1 year partnership)
13/04/10 - INZ Interview (re relationship)
    22/05/10 - Approved in Principle
    04/06/10 - Residence Permits issued

Just to let you know, you won't get your passport back until they are good and ready to send it. I had also paid the Migrant Levy fee, sent back all the paperwork and my passport and waited. Then got an email from my case officer that they wanted another certified document! (A CERTIFIED copy of my job description, which they had and apparently misplaced. Okay, my previous case officer had it, anyway.) Once I got that for them - again - I got my passport back in a couple of weeks.
Arrived in Auckland on August 6, 2008.Now live in Kawakawa with my kiwi partner.
I just started working at Bay of Islands Hospital at the beginning of December 2009.
Work permit renewed and good until June 2010
EOI submitted and selected, case manager assigned and ITA received. PR application submitted 28/08/09
approved in principle 26/01/10, PR granted and received 19/03/10
