    Default Hiya from Dorset!

    Hello Everyone,

I have looked at a few NZ Forums / Websites and have come to the conclusion that this is the best by far!

I am a British soldier living in Dorset, ticking off the days until I can leave the Army (September 2011)

My wife is an Operating department Practitioner (ODP) and subsequently the main visa applicant.

Our EOI goes in quite soon (160 points with a job offer) and we are spending most of out time researching / gathering documents / contacting employers etc.

We are bringing our 13 year old boy with us, and hopefully our 10 year old Springer!

We would love to hear from any ODPs / parents of teenage children or people planning to make the move within the next 12 months so that we can share tips and advice!

    Thanks for reading this

Hi Ninja757, where abouts in Dorset are you from? We moved over from Christchurch, Dorset (near Bournemouth) a couple of years ago.

No useful info to pass on at the moment, but just wanted to say Hi.

The tank museum in Bovington is on the list of places to go when the wife and kids go back in October. Great place and my son loves that sort of thing :-)

    Wow, thanks Ninja757.

Thinking of Bovington and Wareham has given me the urge to have a pint in the pub by the river in Wareham (think it was called The Quay). Used to have a Guinness or two there after training sessions in my old kayak

We live about 30 minutes out of Christchurch (NZ) in Kaiapoi, compared to our old Christchurch, even the city seems quiet at times! The centre of Christchurch City is more like Bournemouth really, rather than a city as we know it. Traffic is certainly a lot quieter and driving about is easy compared to what we are used to. We seem to have access to alot more outdoors stuff here, with Mountains and ski resorts only 1h 30 away and the beach about 5 minutes away. I certainly spend a lot more time outdoors doing things than I did in the UK, where for me, going outdoors meant walking the dog to the pub and staggering back a few hours later :-)
