Default Jobs in NZ - CHCH

I'm not sure if this is the place to put this, if not let me know!
I'm not sure where to look for job offers, I need one for the visa I want to apply for.
Where would be the best place to look?

    Welcome to the forum Paigefiddler.

One of the best ways to look for jobs is on the job agents' websites. You can find some of them here under the title Employment. Perhaps some of our Chch gang might know of some local agencies that would have a good selection of jobs on offer.

If you are looking for a job to apply for a work visa, you need to ensure the job you're looking for is a skilled one and one that a kiwi can't be found to do. It's not a case of getting any old job because there are plenty of kiwis who could fill them. NZ needs people with skills and will only grant work visas on the strength of that unless there are other factors involved e.g. being sponsored by a kiwi partner.

My experience with agents is that they don't consider your applications at all as you don't have visa. Job wise it is maybe also worth trying Seek and Trademe.

it would depend on what area you were looking for a job. telecoms is always easy to get a job offer in if alrady skilled.

Well, I don't know, unless you qualify under SMC without job offer. But you have to be from comparable labour market and/or your qualification/work experience in LTSSL (shortage skill).

What I've written above is true, I tried it (and still trying) and spoke with some agents when in NZ. It is a circle with no way out:
    - you need a job (offer) to qualify for visa,
    - agencies/employers consider applicants with residence/visa...

It is strange indeed and at some point I thought this whole immigration process is mostly in place to milk the applicants.

I didn' try Telecom (yet). But thanks for the advice
