    Default Its finally happened

Colin got told today at an interview, that the employer contacted immigration about his work permit, and they said it probably wont get renewed
so canny give him the job

He comes home phones immigration, and she said that girl in chch should never have said. "oh find work asap, as we dont like to find 2 or 3 month down the line, things are the same"
We should have left as soon as he lost job
Or get toursit visas proving we have 4000 each month to live on
and apply for whole new work permits

Well financially we are totally knackered as we have been getting help for past 3 months from family

    Absolutly demented now and terrified

Oh dear God, and there was me thinking the title of your thread meant that Colin had finally got the job. I don't understand why they won't renew the WP, especially if there is a job offer coming up. That sounds counter-productive. Pity Colin can't find someone who is a bit more understanding. After all, on the word of the girl in Chch branch, you've stayed on and run your finances down to a stage where you can't do anything or go anywhere. Had she told you you had to get out immediately Colin lost his job, you, presumably, would have had enough money to buy air tickets. I assume Colin rang a different INZ branch this time? Can he not get back to the Chch one and hope they will approach the matter in a different way? Was he about to be offered a job? Surely they can't pull the rug from under him if he was going to start work.

I'm so sorry you find yourselves in this position. I can fully understand how you feel right now.

Ive never felt so gutted and sick

The woman on phone today was auckland branch, and not very helpful
Colin tried explaining about its supposed to be 130 dollars to change conditions of permit
But i think she was meaning our permit has now expired
If we had been told about the visitors permits, then work permits again, at the begining we would have done that
Though it still doesnt explain the whole 130 variation of conditions form

Now we cant afford to stay and cant afford to go back, and to be honest, id rather go back now, as im feeling very lonely and scared here.
I tried phoning citizens advice, got a very hard to understand lady on phone, english no good, anway she told me to go into immigration

i phoned British consolate, he told me to complain to immigration, so have done that

Colin phoned the guy who keeps telling him that job is there, just cant get start date organised, due to delays
Colin told him it might end up work permits, and 70 days again
    Guy seemed ok with that
But he needs to give Colin a contract to take into immigration, and that he cant do, as again he is waiting on work building up

So even if he does find work, and gets a date to start, they are gonna make us go through work permits again
So if knew that at the begining, then aye we wouldnt have spent the thousands we ahve the past 3 months, we would have packed up and buggered off
but girl in CHCH said it was one form, and 130 bucks

So wait and see what comes out of our complaint

But to be honest, i think it will be deporting next

Personally, I think I'd make an appointment with Chch immigration office ASAP, and go and talk it all through face-to-face with them. Am so on your behalf!

Did you get the name of the girl whom advised you of the $130 fee to change the details of the work permit? If not - try and remember the date and time when you contacted them ... as they may keep some records themselves.

Don't know how amenable they are .. but I think you need to get all the facts, and any options you may have.

As Jon said, you have our number. Please don't hesistate to call ... we're more than happy to pop over, watch wee Colin .... or anything else that you need,

I would agree with Lou on the face-to-face with Chch INZ. It was they who got you into this so let them help you get out of it. I would hope you would get a different kind of reception in Chch because it's a smaller unit than Auckland which would be very busy and impersonal.

Things are bad enough when they go wrong in your own country, but when you're away in another place and can't get back, it's a whole other ball game.

    Cheers all

I dont remember her name, and im sure we could probably get a rough date.
the thing is she never even took our names or anything, just all matter of factly over counter
And made us think, ach well we have time anyway

Will just go in as so far ive always found chch good to deal with

but we are now getting really disheartened, and im filling up every time i visulise wee Colin going back to school in Glasgow
My wee dog and rabbit, what will i do with them

nicoles only one thats quite happy, though she said she wants in a way to go back (boyfriend ) But in a way she likes it here and would like both options and for it to work out for us after all our efforts to get here

Will keep you all posted and thanks again for all the support

Is there anyway Colin can get a job in another area of NZ? I don't know what else I can say that hasn't already been said. I would defo get all info together you have got or been given and go into immigration and speak to a real person in person. I can't believe the consulate didn't offer any help at all. I really hope you can come to some sort of result so you can all get on with your lives. Everyting crossed for you.

    Hi beth
again its just finances thats the struggle
    so we cant really relocate
also my teen daughter is doing ECE course just now, and dont particaulary want the upheavel for her or wee Colin.

yip the British Consolate guy i spoke to said that British taxpayers money wont pay for us to go back, its up to family
I explained family have been helping for the past few months

Will go in and see them, as the one on the phone today, was hopeless
And that way its in Chch, and might even be the girl who spoke to us in first place

    keep you all posted

    thanks again

I've only just spotted this thread I'm afraid I don't have any wise words of wisdom to magically make the powers-that-be get their act together but I just wanted to let you know I'm really sorry that this is all happening and I am thinking of you all and have all fingers crossed that there is a positive outcome from going to see them face-to-face in Chch and you are all able to carry on with the new life that you have started here in NZ
