    Default What recession?

I've lived in Australia for 2 and half years and recently came back to NZ for a 2 week holiday. It was a wonderful change to see everyone so laidback and happy-go-lucky, "What recession?'" was everyones attitude. I guess I'm just used to all the panic and materialistic aussie culture, such a breathe of fresh air to be around "sweet as!" Kiwis, so now we're considering coming home Is this what the majority of kiwis are feeling or was I around the lucky few? I don't want to ship the family of 8 home for nothing....

Well, if the full cafes of people having breakfast, lunch and dinner every day are anything to go by then, 'what recession?' is certainly correct. If the people coming through my studio doors and parting with their hard earned cash to have fun working out are anything to go by then, 'what recession?' would be right.

I guess the kiwis don't buy into what they're being told so easily.

    So yeah, sweet as......

There's no doubt a few industries are in trouble, such as construction and car sales, but really speaking the big recession is limited to the media hype - as usual. I think kiwis have been cautious for the last few months, but are slowly and surely realising that there's no real recession here, just a problem getting sub-prime finance!

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.
