    Hi Alec. Welcome!

According to the forms for the medical it says:

If BMI >35 in adults or >97th percentile for applicants aged 15-19 years of age, or waist circumference of females >88cm, males >102cm, arrange and attach fasting lipids and fasting glucose tests.

I wouldn't like to say how rigorously they adhere to this but losing a bit of weight can't be a bad thing anyway .

I spoke to immigration about this the other day as one of my clients is training with me to lose some weight and improve her health for her medicals.

They said that it doesnt matter about the BMI really, in the end it will depend on blood tests and problems with your organs. My client had really high liver readings (normal is 0-50 and hers was in the 400s). They ended up sending her to a specialist who said everything was ok with her and she just had to kept getting her liver readings done regularly...

She has been training with me and improved her readings to 120 which is the best she had in years!

So yes losing weight will help but more than that improving your general fitness as that s what will impact your health, not the weightloss itself!!!!
