    Default Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi everyone,

I am a 24 year old South African, myself and a friend have decided to try immigrating to New Zealand. I've checked and I don't qualify for the required points to get a residency, from everything I've read and been told the next best option is to go over on a 'visitors visa' and find work for an employer that's willing to sponsor you and then convert to a working visa. As I'm going to have to quit my job and throw allot of money into coming over I'd like to know how realistic my chances are of finding a sponsored job are. Is doing it this way completely legal? and do I just pack my bags one day come over and start looking for work.. is there nothing I have to do first? Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of finding work when I get there?
If I get offered a job, will I have to come back to SA to sort out my work visa or can I do it from NZ without coming home?

I am very ignorant of how these sort of processes work and would appreciate any and all help I can get.

looking forward to hearing all your advice.

    Best regards

You can do the work visa while you are staying in the country. But before you come over have a look in the internet for jobs, send your CV out and make appointments.

A lot of Companies/Agency wont take you on until you have a Visa under your belt. With a visitors visa you are not able to work hoever you could look into the Working Holiday Visa (WHV) which allows you to work whilst you are here and companies will employ you with this. This will get you a foot in the door and perhaps an opportunity to sponsorship.

Go onto SEEK - New Zealand's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site or TradeMe ? New Zealand online auctions and classifieds. Browse, buy and sell online on to have a look at what jobs are out there. Unfortunately not many places specify an exact salary.

    Good Luck!
